JUSTIN JOSEPH GERMA
February 21, 2026
Justin Joseph Germa of Kincardine died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at Brightshores Health System, Southampton, in his 48th year. He was loved and cherished by his fiancé, Amber Crewson, and their golden retriever, Angel. Dearly missed by his mother, Carol (Horsman) Burgess, and father, Billy Germa; and remembered by his half-siblings Katie Crane, Jody Higgins, and Jesse Higgins; aunts, Debbie Ritchie, and Donna (Derick) Drake; uncles John Horsman, Rick (Brenda) Horsman, and Michael Horsman; as well as his cousins, Vincent Burgess, Mitchell Burgess, Stephanie Horsman, Brent Horsman, and Laura Horsman. Predeceased by his grandmother, Edith Garland Horseman. Justin was the love of Amber’s life for 30 wonderful years. High school sweethearts, they built a life filled with laughter, loyalty, and deep devotion. He was known for his enormous heart and his unforgettable smile. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help a friend or someone in need. He loved life and was always grateful simply to be alive. Whether he was listening to music, walking the dog, enjoying the sunshine, or spending time outdoors, he truly embraced everything life had to offer. Born in North Vancouver, Justin moved with his mother, Carol, to her hometown, Moncton, New Brunswick, at the age of one. When he was three, they moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where he resided with his stepfather, Harvey Burgess, mom, Carol. At the age of eight, he and his family moved to Guelph, Ontario. When he was 18, he moved back to Vancouver for a short time and then to Montreal, Quebec, where he reunited with Amber. Justin later lived in Toronto before moving to the Kincardine area in 2021. A city boy at heart, he quickly fell in love with the beauty of the beach and the peaceful charm of the small-town community. As a child, he loved playing hockey and growing up surrounded by family. In 2022, Justin began a courageous battle with throat cancer and underwent full chemotherapy and radiation treatments through 2024. By 2026, he was in full recovery, feeling stronger and happier than ever, committed to working out and living a healthy life. Faith became an important part of Justin’s life. He had a passion for volunteering at the Port Elgin United Church three times per week and at the Tiverton church each month. He was deeply involved in Bible study and cherished his daily conversations about faith with Rev. Dan in Port Elgin and Rev. Rick in Tiverton. Justin loved speaking about Jesus and the Almighty God who he believed carried him through his battle with cancer. Justin also had a deep love for animals and is now reunited in heaven with his beloved dog, Bella. He leaves behind his devoted partner, Amber, and their cherished dog, Angel. Justin will always be remembered as a confident, joyful man whose smile could light up any room. He will live forever in Amber’s heart. May God bless his soul and may he rest in peace. Justin’s life will be celebrated with a service, music, and snacks, on his birthday, May 9, 2026, beginning at 1 p.m., at the Port Elgin United Church. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Port Elgin United Church would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
